21 January 2011 - The day we feared and we learnt!

It was the usual working Friday. And it was the last few weeks before we celebrate Chinese New Year. And this time round, I suggested to hubby that we made a trip to Isetan KLCC to check things out. So hubby went over to pick dearly Kye Xin and came together to pick me.
We did not buy anything except for Kye Xin's dress. She is always the one with the most buys as we tend to look for her stuff more than our own. Naturally I guess, when kids came into our life.
Dinner time, about 7pm, I suggested that we go dinner in Desa Setapak. It was our favourite place to eat way before we moved into our new house. That night, it rained. And the place where hubby parked his car was abit narrower than usual.
I used to sit at the back of the car with Kye Xin. But I chose to sit in the front that night, simply because it was raining heavily and of the reason stated earlier. And I just dumped my handbag and Kye Xin's bag to the back seat. Neither did we realise that we became the robber's target!
Hubby stopped at the traffic light in Jalan Genting Kelang, opposite Kenny Rogers. I remembered our conversation was about our daughter whom had grown up so fast and how time flies where suddenly we heard a loud bang on our car. My first reaction, is there an accident? Hubby then looked behind and noticed a pair of hands trying to grab my handbag away. Oh my God, they came to break the mirror and aimed at my handbag. I was in total shock, I did not do anything but to just looked into Kye Xin's eyes. She appeared to be cool, did not cry and I just told her to quickly hug me. Thank goodness, they failed and we were all safe.
We quickly drove the car to the police station and made a police report. I informed the babysitter and she came to pick Kye Xin. She stayed overnight at her house that night while we settled the car. The next day, hubby went to fix the car and washed the car.
The day we feared the most - we never expected that those stories or experiences we read in e-mails/newspapers had happen to us. And the day we learnt - we are more alert and not to expose our belongings. Whenever we are at any traffic light, I will look left, right, left, right! The phobia is still with me, but I choose to be extra alert now!
Imagine those beasts did that even with my baby in the car. I couldn't think of if they were to hurt my precious Kye Xin. Hubby and I thanked Kuan Yin for this. We survived and we shall learn from this incident!
