Second PPUM checkup : 29 July 2009

It's another round of checkup in PPUM. It was a raining when we got into the car and I slept through the journey till PPUM. Hubby was driving all the time and I took for granted the privilege I had. Got the number 1008. Not too bad, the eighth person. This time, I am there for my blood test result, pap smear result and also for doc to intepret my ultrasound scan I did on 16 July 2009. As usual, it started with urine and blood pressure test. Both are normal. Then I stepped on the weighing scale, put on 3.6kg, 1.2kg more than the first checkup.
Next, the nurse came to ask if I've attended the talk on breastfeeding. I said no and she suggested I go for the talk while waiting for my turn to see the doc. Fine, I thought, hmm, it's time to attend and to know the skills to breastfeed.
Hubby joined together to the room, there are three other mothers and us. The nurse explained that the PPUM is a "Hospital Rakan Bayi", whereby they have a policy to encourage the mothers to breastfeed their baby up to 6 months old without additional supplements or even water. It is also good to breastfeed until 1 or 2 years old. Next, she went into detail to explain the "milk factories" in our breast and mentioned the scientific names which I couldn't remember clearly.
Next, the reason why we should breastfeed, how to breastfeed and the advantages of breastfeeding. I find the talk interesting. The talk lasted about half an hour.
We waited for another half an hour before I am called to see the doc. It took me about 2 hours plus to wait for my turn, and I came out from the doc's room in less than 10 minutes. The test results were ok, my Angel's heartbeat is ok and Angel's growth is fine too. A sigh of relief!

My Angel

Till now, the doc could not confirm BB's gender to us. She refused to commit to an answer as it might turn out to be wrong. Seems like my BB wants to give us surprises. Daddy thought it will be good to know when BB is delivered. I decided to call BB, Angel. BB is an angel to me, providing me strength and support everyday. Somehow, I find myself sharing my ups and downs and my thoughts with my Angel. And Angel will respond, vibrating abit and it is one of the miracle things I faced during my pregnancy. Angel is now at 765g. Doc said it is a very good progress. I'm relieved to hear that since I only put on 4 kg so far at week 23. I'm soon to reach week 24=6th month this Friday. And now Daddy is working real hard to prepare our home sweet home for us and Angel. We would be most likely moving in on Sept 20. Hopefully Angel would keep on growing healthily in my womb and be a healthy, good and adorable baby. And Angel would definately bring cheer to our new home and us all.
Once the new home is ready, we will then focus to get all things prepared to welcome our Angel.

First gift for my Angel

My colleague, Elaine gave me a set of Tupperware TIWI Baby Bottle & Warmer Set. A big thank you to her.

New baby cot for my Angel

Saturday, 18 July. We were extremely busy finding materials for our house renovation. Daddy busy looking for tiles everywhere, from factory warehouse sales to shops and shopping complexes. The Star Saturday is a must buy newspaper of the week as we get all the info to visit to all these places. There was an interesting article, Twins Baby 1st Anniversary Sales, Discount for all Baby Cots based on Mother's Age!
They have two branches, one beside Centrepoint, BU and one in Ampang. Previously I went to Jusco, Carrefour, Metrojaya, Manjaku Baby Centre and Mothercare to survey for baby cots. Some with cheaper range but poorer quality, and some with higher prices, better quality, but too high for my budget. Then I decided to have a look at this shop. At least I know for sure I will get 28% discount.
We went in to the shop and I was surprised to see such many variety of cots to choose from. They were at least 15 types to choose from, the price ranges from RM459 to RM1000++. Daddy was busy selecting the cots, he wanted to ensure that they are of good quality and value for money. I specifically like one cot, but Daddy said it is a display set and the cot is not in a good shape. He came across one cot, white in colour and it was RM599. Good news, they have new stocks and we don't have to take the display set.
The criteria of the discount are as follows:-
1) Must be a pregnant mother.
2) Max discount is 40% (up to 40 years old). Proof of age with IC is required.
3) Max is 3 cots per person.
Given that I'm only 28 and the discount for me is only 28%. Daddy thought it was not that value for money. He wanted me to get him greater discount. And it happened that there was a couple with a son who were looking at the cots too. And personally I would think that she's in thirties. I went to her and ask her age, deep inside feeling very embarrassed for asking such a sensitive issue to a lady. I was glad that she didn't put on her sour face and politely say to me her age. And she agreed to help to buy me the baby cot.
Finally we succeeded buying the cot for RM 383.36. This price excludes the mattress and bedding accessories. And I hope my Angel would love this cot.

The details of the cot are as follows:-

Mummy's First Shot with My Angel

It was Sunday, 5 July. Daddy wanted to go to the Archidex Exhibition in KLCC Convention Centre. I went to fetch him off work, imagine working on Sunday....Then we thought of going to Pavillion just to look around the place and also to get some home deco tips. There are few house deco shops in Level 6 and we admired some of the clocks sold there. Sad to say, they are very nice to look at but the price are too high for us to own one.
Daddy started taking photos of the place with our new Nikon D60. And he took a shot of me with my Angel.
This is one of the first photo I took since I am pregnant. I am in my Week 20 then.

9 July 2009

It's our 9th year dating anniversary. We were scheduled for a trip to Hong Kong from 8-13 July 2009, free air tickets courtesy of Air Asia. And we intended to have a nice trip together before I deliver my BB. Somehow we decided to call off the trip due to the H1N1 virus outbreak.
Still, on this date, we decided to have a small celebration. Hubby suggested that we go for a movie after work. We have not been watching movies at cinemas since before our wedding.
We succeeded in buying tickets for Transformers 2 after the three failed attempts weeks before. No lavish dinner this round, just a bowl of white porridge and 'you tiao' at I Love You! stall in The Gardens. No appetite for big dinner, just felt like having a nice hot meal. And it turned out to be the nicest meal that we ever had. It gave me a flashback to the days we had during our college days. And that night, I felt hubby's care for me and BB.
We enjoyed the movie very much with popcorns. This would probably be the last movie I will have before my BB is out. I was very tired after the movie and slept all the way back to our house.
I enjoyed the night and it wasn't bad after all. Thanks, DD for the night! Love ya!

First PPUM checkup : 2 July 2009

This day marked my first checkup in PPUM. Husband was with me the whole process. I'm glad that he took time off to be with me and BB. We reached around 8.10am and found a group of people waiting to be called for checkup. Hmm, we are abit late, ha ha. Took a number and it doesn't take long time to be called. I handed my IC and husband's IC for registration. We wait and wait for them to call us again. Paid RM31 for reg fee and RM500 for delivery deposit.Hmm, that would mean I've secured a place in PPUM and my BB.
Next, I'm asked to wait at another waiting room where they measured my height, weight, urine, blood pressure and blood test. I was told that they will test my blood for HIV. Sounds scary! And the nurse interviewed me for my medical history. I then proceeded to drink a cup of the sugar water for Glucose Challenge Test (GCT). I had to wait for an hour after that to take out my blood samples.
I went into the room for checkup. She asked me lots of question about myself and my pregnancy. She's trying to understand my health background and also to figure out the due date for my BB. A pap smear test was done. It is not comfortable at all and at this moment, I knew that labour pain is much and much more painful. Can't turn back time, I guess.
They did not perform the ultrasound scan that day. I was a bit worried that I did not feel BB's movement. To ease my mind, the doc used a manual machine and place a tube on my stomach and the next thing I heard, "dup, dup, dup, dup, dup". The doc said my BB's heartbeat is normal. Hubby said all he heard is a very noisy environment with the dup dup sound. Ha ha ha, of course la, BB is in waterbag now!!!!
After the checkup, I went to collect the supplements, paid the checkup fees and took blood samples. My next checkup, 29 July 2009.
